SYNOPSIS
The Pacific Northwest of the United States. 1983. Lumberjack Red Miller and gas station cashier-cum-artist Mandy Bloom are in love and leading a peaceful existence in a woodland cabin. But their pine-scented idyll is shattered when sadistic cult leader Jeremiah Sand sees Mandy and falls under her spell. He orders her kidnapping and tries to seduce her, but she laughs in his face. His wrath unleashed, Sand orders Mandy killed in front of Red but in turn unleashes Red’s own wrath. Having lost the love of his life, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey to hunt down Sand and his cronies and exact a bloody revenge.
DIRECTOR
Panos Cosmatos
Born in Rome in 1974 to Greek film director George P Cosmatos and Swedish experimental artist Birgitta Ljungberg-Cosmatos, Panos Cosmatos spent his early years traveling around the globe with his parents before the family settled down in western Canada in the mid-1980s. Once in Canada, he obsessed over the minutiae of heavy metal, fantasy art, science fiction and horror films which he still does to this day. After the death of his mother in 1997, he “descended into a decade-decade-long vortex of madness and self-destruction,” emerging with the decision to make a movie. That film, Beyond The Black Rainbow appeared in 2010 and played many film festivals including Tribeca and Fantasia
