In the dark criminal world of Kuala Lumpur, a gang of four taxi drivers extort wealthy passengers that they pick up from the airport. But a greedy younger member goes behind his older brother’s back, teaming up with another gang member and branching out on their own. Their plan goes awry when their criminal activities collide with an upper-class couple in the middle of an affair, and a real, really dangerous gang. Meanwhile the police get a whiff of their activities and start monitoring their activities. The taxi drivers hatch a scheme to cash in and still get out alive.

Zahir Omar

Zahir Omar started working in production when he was 21 in Malaysia. When he accumulated enough credits, he applied to study Film & TV at the Queensland University of Technology. But he quickly got bored and decided to quit and return to working, in order to get valuable hands-on experience. He honed his skills directing commercials for 10 years, all the while also making independent short films and getting involved in film productions in different capacities. One job was as second assistant director on Yasmin Ahmad’s Sepet (2005). In 2007, his short film, K-Hole, won the Grand Prize at the first-ever BMW Shorties competition in Malaysia. His next short film, Teddy & I, was selected for the International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Oberhausen International Short Film festival. Fly By Night is his first feature.
